Thank you one and all for a successful campaign!!

More than $71,000 raised in one month to help local cancer patients!! Well done!!

No-Shave November

We all know someone who has experienced cancer – a family member, a friend, a colleague. During No-Shave November we increase awareness while raising money for the Asante Cancer Compassion Fund. We accept our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and let it grow wild and free. The money we raise stays local – every dollar supports the needs of cancer patients through the Asante Cancer Compassion Fund.

Get Involved

Grow that facial hair, let legs go natural, and skip waxing appointments. Participants are encouraged to donate and ask others to make a donation in sponsorship. Businesses are asked to form teams by rallying employees and customers to participate and donate.

How it works

  1. Join and set a fundraising goal
  2. Attend the kick-off event on October 18
  3. Set up your fundraising page – Click "Start Your Fundraiser"
  4. Rally employees, clients, friends, family and neighbors
  5. Don't Shave (Take pictures!)

  7. Shave!!!
  8. Take pride, knowing you made a difference in the lives of cancer patients

Take Care of Our Community

100% of proceeds go to the Asante Cancer Compassion Fund to meet the basic and comfort needs of cancer patients that are beyond what's covered by their insurance. Some examples:

  • Rent and mortgage payments when unable to work
  • Wigs for comfort after hair loss
  • Travel expenses – even a new set of tires
  • Feeding kits for throat and neck cancer patients

Assistance is based on financial need and is designed to respond to the unique situations of patients and families. Funds can be granted by social workers at Dubs Cancer Center, Spears Cancer Center, as well as Nurse Navigators in Pediatrics, Women's Breast Cancer, and General Oncology, and by other departments, including Hospice and Palliative Care. The fund is administered by the Asante Foundation.

"I can't express my thanks enough. You were a blessing." - Leanna, Cancer Compassion Fund recipient

Leanna's Story

For more than 40 years, Leanna and her husband Jim have been a team. They even shared a career as long-haul truck drivers, driving day and night together. But, when Leanna was diagnosed with breast cancer the inseparable couple faced the most difficult challenge of their lives. As Leanna underwent surgeries and treatment, Jim had to be on the road. Without her by his side, their income shrank by more than half. The stress of illness, mounting bills, and time apart was almost more than they could bear.

Leanna isn't one to ask for help, but Sandy, a social worker at Asante's Spears Cancer Center, sensed her distress. Finally Leanna confided: they didn't have the money to pay their mortgage. Sandy was able to connect Leanna with the Asante Cancer Compassion Fund, which provided the payment. Today, Leanna is cancer free and deeply grateful.
